Cuticle Oil: When It Helps and How to Use It
Cuticle oil is a small habit with visible payoff: softer edges, less snagging, and hands that look cared for without a salon appointment.
When it helps
Dry climates, frequent hand washing, gel polish cycles, and winter air all stress the nail fold. Oil supports flexibility — it doesn’t “heal” infections.
How to use
- One drop per nail or a thin brush line along the cuticle.
- Massage until absorbed.
- Nightly is ideal; after washing hands is a smart second cue.
What not to do
Don’t force or cut live cuticle aggressively. Redness, pus, or spreading pain → clinician, not more oil.
